The mission of Dharma Drum Retreat Center is to promote the practice of Chinese Chan Buddhism in the Western Hemisphere. Our teachings and practices are rooted in the Dharma Drum Mountain Lineage developed by our founder Chan Master Sheng Yen.
To that end, we teach methods of Chan Buddhist meditation passed down to us through generations of practitioners—but we deliver these teachings in fresh ways to engage citizens of a modern world. We offer essential truths and guidance in simple, direct language.
